Day in the life: 28.02.2012

The wedding: How do you fancy getting hitched at the Parker Palm Springs? This couple did! "We wanted our wedding to be formal without being stuffy. Whimsical without being kitschy. Glamorous yet understated. And above all else FUN!" Swoony. SO swoony.

The Supermarket (good) news: In an "Australian supermarket first", Coles recently announced that there will be no added MSG or artificial colours in ANY of their 3500 branded products. How great is that?! “In my professional experience the top two additives that my patients have issues with are number 102 (tartrazine), which is a bright yellow colour and number 62 (MSG) which is a flavour enhancer,” says Mum and nutritionist Kate di Prima. “Common symptoms can be hyperactivity and a lack of attention span, exacerbation of ADHD, gastrointestinal problems, headaches, dizziness – the list goes on.” Onya Coles. Below are the Bell family staples - Rice cakes (me), Rock Salt crackers (Mr Tonic), Taco Shells (Jasper's fave) and Raspberry Jelly (Anoushka begs me for it!):

The magazine: The March issue of Country Style magazine invites you to "escape the everyday, take in a breathe of fresh air and revel in the spirit that sustains country life". On sale now!

The (new!) clean beauty buy: Aussie clean beauty brand, Original & Mineral recently launched "Original Queenie", a firm, flexible hold hairspray that provides "styling with an edge". Jose Bryce Smith CEO of Original & Mineral says "The hold, light but firm hold hairspray is definitely fit for a queen and the smell, well that's inspired by Her Majesty herself, nanna chic we like to call it". Ha! I love it! But wait for it - Original Queenie's "clean" formula includes Lilly Pilly (an Australian Native Plant that extends hold by reducing unwanted oil), Quandong (an Australian fruit that adds weightless protection to nourish your hair) and low VOC (Volatile Organic Carbon) so you don’t walk away lightheaded or dried out! Oh, and by the way - All O&M products have kissed harsh chemicals goodbye in favour of quality botanicals and essential oils. They are also free from Sulfates, Parabens, MIT, Phthalates, Triclosan and Propylene Glycol, meaning they are a kind to your body too. And just look how pretty she is:

Original Queenie is now available at the Atlantis Salon in Paddington and various boutique salons in Australia and the USA (and as of a few weeks ago, at Mana Hair in Avalon as well!). Visit the O&M website for more info.

The gym gear: Okay, now I get it. Now I understand why Lululemon stores are popping up faster than you can say Namaste. Beacause it looks great on (I'm wearing their black, ruffle edged racer back singlet as I type), is super comfy and competitively priced. Oh, and they ask your name when you go into the change room. Stuff like that gets me. I like it. And we haven't even talked about the bags you're given your purchase in yet!!

The salad: Alright, I can't take full credit (Donny Hay can though!) as I saw this one in a magazine. Such a lovely combination of ingredients - Lettuce, kidney beans, fresh corn (I just slice it off the cob and pan fry fry it for 2 minutes), capsicum, kidney beans (I used organic tinned ones), coriander and haloumi. With lime juice and extra virgin olive oil. That reminds me, I must make it again soon...

Get the look: The modern/classic Berber rug

I really have to take my blogging hat right off when I look through the (creatively named) 'Miscellaneous' folder on my Mac. It's completely and utterly bursting with beautiful interiors pics that there quite simply aren't enough hours in the day for. Could I blog full time? Hell yeah. I was looking for a particular image yesterday and found this in my archives - The first thing that caught my eye? THE RUG Beacuse we have one just-like-it in the Table Tonic online store! Wheeeeeeeeee!

And that, by my watch, makes it GET THE LOOK o'clock:

(above and below)
Table Tonic "Neva" Moroccan Berber rug,
1.25 x 1.83 metres, $1999.
(free delivery Australia wide on all Table Tonic Berber rugs)

PS Oh, and how could I resist sharing these two glowing Table Tonic customer emails (from last week) with you:

"Just to let you know my two lovely soft cushions arrived and they're gorgeous.  I also loved the way they were packaged -  arriving under a blanket of pristine tissue paper, in a box that was just the right size.  Everything shouted 'attention to detail' which gets my vote and my smile every time."

"You packaged everything up so beautifully. It was a real treat to open and a pleasure to shop Table Tonic!"

PPS My blog post a year ago today? Room of the week: Worn Out (I think you'll like it). Happy Tuesday Tonic-ettes!

Table talk with Louise Bell: "Inside my colourful world"

As you know by now (because I posted about it here), the birthday issue of Ivy and Piper went live a few days back. The I & P girls, Melanie and Elizabeth were kind enough to have me as a contributor this past year, and it's been a mega-blast. So here's this issue's thang: "Inside my Colourful World" (click to read Ivy and Piper, and find me on pages 102-107). That reminds me - There is a lovely quote in the current issue of House Beautiful, along the lines of: "Don't be afraid of colour - You'll be surprised how good it makes you feel". Amen to that!

Table Tonic in the press: Home Beautiful

The July 2011 issue of Home Beautiful is on sale now!

One story you must check out is the beautiful "Arabian Nights" on pages 45-52. I just want to dive into the cozy looking page 48 - Possibly beacause I see not one, not two, but three Table Tonic goodies! And it's a big day - the first time one of the Table Tonic Berber rugs is in the press!

Vintage Moroccan Wedding Blankets: Click to shop!

Words cannot explain how extraordinary Moroccan Wedding Blankets are in the flesh. I can only liken this situation to those times you see a celebrity on the street. And they're thinner/prettier/taller than they ever looked in photographs. Reminds me of the time I walked past Nicole Kidman in (Sydney's) Woollahra. OMG. Porcelain skin and deep blue eyes... But I digress...

PS Click here to view the full range of Moroccan Wedding Blankets on the Table Tonic online store. Because let's face it, they do wonders for an Ikea bed! PPS Free (Australia wide) shipping on all wedding blankets until Sunday!

Table Tonic's week(end) in review...

The weekend kicked off beautifully around lunchtime Friday, where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch with the birthday boy. The Boathouse at Palm Beach would have to be one of the most beautiful spots in Sydney, rather loving that it's in the next suburb! And yes. Jasper and his new Skateboard? Officially inseparable.

(above) Jasper and "Penny". BFF's.

(above) I had the Goat's cheese Frittata (left) and both Mr Tonic and Jasper had Fish & Chips (right)

(above) That would be me. Wearing (because it's useful information) French Connection top, Karen Walker sunglasses, Ausko scarf, Hermes cuff.

 (above) The Tonic boyz.

(above) I wandered down to the corner store on Saturday arvo, only to stumble upon this - A Vogue Living Before + After Special Edition (on sale now)! Will post a sneak peak soon.

(above) A gorgeous High School friend of mine texted me on Saturday arvo (and an ex-collegue tweeted me!) to alert me to this little mention - A quarter page in Saturday's Good Weekend (Sydney Morning Herald) supplement, featuring a Table Tonic Moroccan Wedding Blanket! And PS I have a bunch more breathtakingly beautiful Vintage Moroccan wedding blankets arriving in the next few weeks!

Of course I always know about these things in advance, but it's always such a thrill to see them in print!

(above) 8.30pm, Saturday. Earth Hour. I loved the warm glow half a dozen lit candles gave the house. I vowed to do it more often. PS I actually almost lit one of my Enjoy flameless candles. I was quite funny, really!

I hope you all created some wonderful memories over the weekend and wish you a superb week ahead! x
