The conscious shopper: Buy a bag, FEED a child.

Lauren Bush (FEED CEO and new wife of Ralph Lauren's son David) traveled as a student ambassador through the UN World Food Programme (WFP). During her travels, she saw food rations of beans, barley, and rice being distributed to countries in need, in large burlap sacks. She took this concept, launched FEED Projects and developed it into the FEED 1 Bag (that's me with mine below). Proceeds from the sale of each FEED 1 Bag ($90) provide school meals to 1 child for 1 whole year through the UN World Food Programme. How freakin' fantastic is that?

(above) the FEED 1 Bag, $9o from Kindred Spirits

As I demonstrate above, it's chic as all hell and (wait for it) reversible! Natural burlap/hessian on one side (perfect for groceries) and off white 100% organic cotton on the other side (great for the beach). The cotton also side has two side pockets and a big interior pocket, making it a great candidate for a diaper bag! And it's huge to boot! 38cm wide x 38cm high x 15.5cm deep with 28cm drop handles.

Click here to purchase your FEED bag from Kindred Spirits (shipping is free within Australia!) and know that you are feeding 1 child for 1 year and investing in a child's future. And bonus points - you get to feel a bit eco-chic at the same time!

(above) One of our lovely Table Tonic customers recently emailed us their King Size Table Tonic Suzani bedspread transformation. So clever (click for all the details)! I had another customer purchase one yesterday - she plans to have a lampshade covered with her multicolour suzani and use the remainder to make a single bedspread for her son's room. Going to look amazing. PS Don't forget to contact me if you have any questions!

My right-now faves: 9 things I want you to know about

My new favourite wine: Logan 2011 Hannah Rose, out of Orange, NSW. Just beautiful. And would you look at the label! Glorious all over the place.

My new favourite beauty buy: Grown anything. Think luxurious organic skincare. And think "grown not manufactured". Really gorgeous products and the Vanilla and Orange Peel hand cream is to DIE for, just quietly. Shop online here.

My new favourite hair finisher-off-er-er: Speaking of clean beauty buys, now that my hair is longer, Frizzy Logic (click to buy) has replaced Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray (click to buy) as my Original Mineral post-blow-dry helper of choice. Makes it a bit shiny and piece-y and conditioned looking. PS Only on the ends, girls!

My new favourite read: I can't get enough of WellBeing magazine right now. Just brilliant. Oh, and same deal for figs. Obviously.

My new favourite mag: Looks like I need to subscribe to (UK) Living etc. Oh brother. It's goooood. Huge thanks to TT reader Kathy for sending me this copy!

(below) And look what she pointed out to me inside - A very Table Tonic inspired kid's room! Get the look with these Ikat cushions and these Mexican bedspreads!

My new favourite mag cover: Aussie VOGUE (bit late, I know). No words.

My new favourite carb: Weeeee! It's nearly Easter! And PS THANK YOU COLES FOR MAKING A RAISIN (ugh!) FREE HOT CROSS BUN. Amen to that.

In other news, I am currently listening to Lana Del Ray's album "Born to Die" like there's no tomorrow. Wow. Go have a listen on iTunes or You Tube. It's moody and sexy and beautiful. Audio crack. Happy Tuesday Tonic-ettes.

Multicolour Mexican Suzanis available for pre-order!

It's been a long time since we've had any of the beautiful Multicolour Mexican Suzanis on the Table Tonic online store - They all get snatched up before they even make it! (Top tip: If you ever desperately want one, send us an email - that way, the next one to arrive is yours and will be sent straight out once it arrives!). So. These two beauties are now available for pre-order and should be arriving around mid/late April - and there is literally just one of each piece:

(above) "Multicolour 1" ($489), click to buy.
Approximately 180 x 180cm square.

(above) "Multicolour 2" ($489), click to buy.
Approximately 180 x 180cm square.

I'm often asked if the Mexican Suzanis come in a larger size (for a King Size bed). Unfortunately, they are almost all embroidered onto a (roughly) 180 x 180cm piece of base cloth BUT did you see this beautiful Mexican Suzani in the November 2011 issue of Real Living? Genius! Simply have a border in the fabric of your choice stitched onto it, transforming it from a beautiful Suzani, into a bedspread of grand proportions:

And remember, you can order a Table Tonic Mexican Suzani in virtually any colour you can dream of (click here for details). You might even want to do what this clever Suzani-lover did!

A week in my (snapseed-ed/instagram-ed) life

Friday's lunch: Chicken, Avocado, tomato, cucumber, preserved lemon (made by by sis-in-law), walnut tapenade, chilli flakes, olive oil, lemon juice.

Monday's threads: ALL of which were bought online! T by Alexander Wang knitted pants (from Shopbop), Bassike top, Michael Kors watch (from Shopbop), Tiffany & Co bracelet, Havaianas.

"Stormcloud": Stormcloud is a Chinese Silky and is, by far, the daftest of our chickens - not the full quid - but also the most beautiful...

God save the Queen: Another TT Union Jack cushion (actually, two!) finds it's way to a happy Tonic-filled home...

Tuesday's lunch: Smoked salmon, edamame, quinoa, pesto, walnut, lemon, lettuce wraps... Photographed on the patio floor for effect.

Tuesday's afternoon snack: Fruit smoothie, a-la-Vitamix (serves 3). 1 mango, 1 nectarine, 1 lemon, heaps of frozen raspberries, heaps of ice. Whizz for 30 seconds aaaaand....

Mega-healthy fruity gelato in a cup! Quick! grab a spoon! PS This lot served Mr Tonic, myself and Jasper!

Tuesday's threads: Remo top, Sportsgirl jeans, Table Tonic necklace (click to buy), Havainas.

On another note, by my watch it's exactly 25 years today since we immigrated to Australia from Durban, South Africa. I was 12 at the time, so it was all terribly exciting. But to think what my Mum and Dad went through to give my brother and I a better future in a country where bomb scares and carjacking are not the norm is remarkable. Yes, Australia really is the lucky country! Happy Wednesday you guys.

Table Tonic's weekend in review

Friday morning: This is the little ray of sunshine that greeted me when I got home from Pilates on Friday morning - the January/February 2012 issue of Vogue Living! Yes. The weekend was off to a flying start...

Friday afternoon: Powerballs just got... SQUARE! So fun. Buy your Rice Cube here and find the recipe for my "Sunday Night Powerballs" (they're a little bit famous) here. There. I just made your day.

Friday night: Friday night came in the form of a couch, Aussie Vogue's January 2012 issue (it's great one), ugg slippers and Green & Blacks organic dark chocolate (it's better than Lindt, I'm not even kidding).

Friday night: Mr Tonic, *cough* award-winning residential Architect *cough* received the following text message from one of his clients on Friday night. They are about to move back into their recently completed home and are (clearly) a little bit chuffed with Mr T:

Saturday morning: I made a batch of my favourite "My New Roots" Raw Brownie powerballs on Saturday, only I made the following modifications: Added 1/2 cup of organic coconut, added a big handful of organic rolled oats and reduced the cacao by about 1/4 cup. They are su-PERB.

Saturday afternoon: I took this picture of Anoushka shortly after she devoured a bowl of frozen berries (frozen berries = nutritious + convenient + delicious + affordable + kids love them). If there was ever one photograph that sums up my three year old daughter, this is it! Cheeky and dirty, mainly...

Sunday morning: Had a beautiful walk/run on the beach, a dip in the ocean pool and came home and made a green smoothie. Love Sunday mornings. I later threw on my Bassike dresses (I'm wearing two here), Spell Byron Bay wings necklace and Havaianas thongs. PS The Spell babes have got a fresh new website - check it out, your inner gypsy will go nuts for it! PS On my wishlist? This and/or this. Mmmmm. PPS Wearing zero makeup here. Healthy food-slash-exercise gives you killer skin, people!

Sunday morning: I keep meaning to show you Noushie's new Castle + Things pillowcases... Aren't they way fun?! Click to buy.

Sunday morning: Pesto is my new favourite thing to make - I took a bunch of organic basil, threw it in a food processor with a chunk of parmesan cheese, a big handful of pine nuts and a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of celtic sea salt.

Top it up with olive oil to prevent oxidization.

Sunday lunch: Salad! Baby spinach, tomato, avocado, quinoa, preserved lemon, walnut tapenade (recipe here), basil pesto (see above!) and Rich Glen Poppy's salad dressing. Ate it to the sound of two children frantically and relentlessly squirting each other with the hose pipe. #indigestion

Sunday afternoon: Mr Tonic continues to fix up the deck... See the strip down the bottom. Yup. New.

Sunday afternoon: Yes, you read that right! On Sunday afternoon, Mr DHL pulls up with a Shopbop parcel for me! Yay! T by Alexander Wang Cotton Knit Sweatpants in "Zest". And they are excellent! Click to buy.

How was your weekend? What was the best thing about your weekend?
